Sarah Thomes studied business administration and has been with us since 2023.
How did you land your current position at Kerkhoff Consulting and what made you decide on this career path?
I was already interested in the field of purchasing and supply chain management, which is why I gained my first theoretical and practical experience during my studies. It was also important to me to find a challenging job that would allow me to constantly learn new things and face new challenges. When a friend told me that her job in consulting was exactly that, I instantly applied.
What skills or insights have you acquired since you started at Kerkhoff that have helped you to grow successfully into the role of a consultant?
I think it's important to start your job with existing soft skills and then develop them further. In my case, for example, it's my problem-solving skills, which I've been able to develop further through my job at Kerkhoff, as well as my strategic thinking to keep an eye on the big picture.
Can you describe a typical working day as a consultant at Kerkhoff Consulting?
Every day is different. Since we are heavily dependent on the project business and are always in contact with other clients, the work processes and tasks can differ from day to day. That's what makes it so exciting. This applies to on-site visits to clients, but also to home office tasks.
Which projects or tasks have you enjoyed the most so far and which have been the most defining for you?
In my first project at Kerkhoff, we made our client's processes more efficient and optimized the interface between purchasing/operations/sales. What I enjoyed most was working closely with my team as well as working together with the client on new solutions.
What would you recommend to other Young Talents/other women who are interested in consulting?
If you are looking for an exciting job with lots of customer contact and want to gain in-depth insights into companies, then I would recommend: Just apply! Kerkhoff Consulting is a very good employer, especially for young women, as the empowerment of women is a top priority here and there are initiatives and events on this topic.
